Long Term Outcomes
* The incarceration rate is lower among young people who participated in conferencing compared with young people, convicted of similar offences, who did not participate in conferencing
* The re-offending rate is lower among young people who participated in conferencing as compared with young people, found guilty of similar offences, who did not participate in conferencing
* Relationships between young person and his/her parents, victim and community, victim and young person, and young person and community are restored/redressed
* Participants experience an enhanced connection to and responsibility for the justice process

Intermediate Outcomes
Pre-conference

* Participants trust that the conference will be a safe and respectful experience
* Participants experience acknowledgment of the impact of the incident through telling their stories to the facilitator(s)
* Young person accepts responsibility for his/her behaviour

Conference

* Young person feels and expresses empathy for the victim
* Young person feels and expresses remorse about his/her behavior
* Young person has an increased awareness of support from family and supporters
* Victim(s) gains multidimensional understanding of the young person and the forces influencing his/her actions
* Relationship between victim and young person changes from simple and incident based to more complex and multidimensional
* Parents experience and express pride in the young person for participating in the conferencing* Participants agree to what has to happen to redress the incident

Post-Conference

* Participants have an enhanced sense of safety and security
* Participants have a sense of closure about the incident

Initial Outcomes
Pre-conference

* Participants (young people, victim(s), supporters) understand the purpose, process and their role in the conference
* Participants begin to develop a trusting, honest relationship with the conference facilitator
* Young person is able to clearly describe his/her thoughts, feelings, and behaviors surrounding the incident

Conference

* Participants experience conference as safe and respectful
* Young person develops a fuller understanding of the impact of his/her actions
* Victim(s) experiences acknowledgment of the impact of the incident from all conference participants
* Young person accepts accountability for redressing the impact of the incident

Post-Conference

* Young person feels supported during disposition hearing
* Victim(s) and supporters experience acknowledgment of their importance to the justice process
* Young person's parents and supporters experience sense of involvement in the justice process
